FURNITURE

We didn’t start out in furniture but both of us find it hard to resist certain pieces, especially those that feature a single large slab of wood or have lines that are simply elegant; or for which the carving or patina of worn wood is particularly beautiful.  While our furniture may have up to ten percent restoration, we do not buy or offer highly refinished furniture, assuming, rightfully, that the refinishing hides a multitude of sins.  To us a table that has one 18th century leg is not an 18th century table.
A solid wood plank from a 19th century Cambodian bed rests on two sections of a turn-of-the-century wooden Chinese water barrel.
Anglo-Burmese teak wood chairs and bench set, Deco style, 1930s.
Teak wood table with four nesting stools or side tables, Siam, 1930s.
Scholar's chair, one of a pair, Shanxi, China, 19th century.
